LEED has effectively concluded a research project in collaboration with the Bangladesh Working Group on External Debt (BWGED) and the Coastal Livelihood and Environment Action Network (CLEAN). The project involved consolidating various policies and regulations from existing energy laws in Bangladesh. LEED Team Members summarized and presented these rules and guidelines in a clear and accessible manner for the general public.

Freedom Of Expression In Cyberspace: The Bangladesh And India Experience.
The seminar on ‘Freedom of Expression in Cyberspace: The Bangladesh and India Experience’ was organized by Lawyers for Energy, Environment, and Development (LEED) in collaboration with the Department of Law, Prime University. The seminar mentioned above was held on December 26, 2023, from 2:30 PM to 5:10 PM at the Department of Law, Prime University; the seminar gathered 15-20 participants, including cyber law specialists, human rights activists, academics, legislators, researchers, lawyers, and media figures from both domestic and foreign organizations. The dialogue, conducted in both Bangla and English, aimed to shed light on the challenges to freedom of speech and expression posed by legislation such as the Information Technology Act 2000 in India and the Cyber Security Act 2013 in Bangladesh. The event included presentations, expert perspectives, and open discussions, resulting in a comprehensive understanding of current laws, policies, and gaps in safeguarding digital rights. Attendees developed strategies for advocating digital freedom and identified areas for legislative improvement in both countries.
Experience Sharing Sessions And Civil Society Dialogue On Digital Rights And Right To Information: Bangladesh And European Experiences
The seminar on “Experience Sharing Sessions and Civil Society Dialogue on Digital Rights and Right to Information: Bangladesh and European Experiences” was organized jointly by Lawyers for Energy, Environment and Development Bangladesh, (LEED) Drik, and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation For Freedom Bangladesh Office. This seminar was held on November 25, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Drik Path Bhobon, 16 Sukrabad Road, Panthapath, Dhaka 1215; the dialogue aimed to connect and exchange experiences between Bangladeshi and European counterparts on digital rights, freedom of expression, and good governance. Approximately 20-25 participants, including human rights activists, academics, politicians, researchers, lawyers, media personalities, and experts from national and international organizations, engaged in discussions spanning 2.30 hours. The dialogue featured presentations, expert opinions, and open discussions, facilitating a comprehensive understanding of digital rights issues. Attendees developed follow-up strategies to address existing gaps and advocate for protecting digital rights in Bangladesh and Europe, particularly freedom of expression. The event was conducted in both Bangla and English to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all participants.
